Only in Kamchatka ethnographic Museum is located in the village of Esso, Bystrinsky national district. Bystrinsky district has been listed as world natural heritage by UNESCO. The mission of Bystrinsky Museum of Ethnography – the restoration of the traditions and culture of the peoples of Kamchatka, acquainted visitors with the history and ethnicity of the Kamchadals.
The Museum building is built in the style of old Russian architecture of the XVII-XVIII centuries and has the appearance of a Cossack Fort, on whose territory presents: exhibition hall, tower defense and mandatory house, which blended in with the architectural ensemble of the Museum.
The Museum has collected and carefully preserved exhibits of material and spiritual culture of the peoples of Kamchatka. Outdoor located interesting display of carved sculptures on mythological themes of the aborigines of Kamchatka.
The Museum is constantly updated with exhibits, in 2003, was built here Koryak semi-subterranean dwelling of the nineteenth century, and in 2005, appeared in the Koryak farce.Koryak housing – unusual structure, unique in Russia, in the shape of a flying saucer from a fantastic movie. In such structures the Maritime Koryaks (nymylany) of the Kamchatka Peninsula lived up to the early twentieth century. Housing recreated on the research participant Jesup expedition (1897-1902) W. Jochelson.
In writ the house XVII–XVIII centuries presents the main exposition of the Museum, which reflects the past and present of evens (lamuts-oracel), rites, legends, particularly of clothing, food, dwelling unit. Evens arrived in Kamchatka in Siberia in 40-50 years of XIX century. All ethnographic objects collected by the Museum staff during expeditions in the taiga camp evens.
