The medieval Palace of Poczobut is located in Krems, on the square, Hoher Markt, on the North of the country in the Federal state of lower Austria.

Poczobut considered one of the most interesting medieval palaces in Austria. The Palace is made in the style of an Italian Palazzo that are rarely seen in Austria. Its history starts in the 13th century, and is still not completely understood. There are many mysteries that experts intensively discussed.

The road leads to the magnificent Palace in the centre of the historic old town of Krems on the Danube, which in the middle ages was a large shopping center. Early Gothic building consists of an East and West wing, which are connected together.

After purchasing the home in the late forties of the 13th century, judge Gozzo began to build a Palace in three stages. Gozzo von Krems was not only one of the most prominent citizens of the city, he was the highest official as a sovereign Chamberlain (Kammergraf) and district judge. In 1267 he donated money for the chapel of Agios Ioannis on the East tract, traces of which can still be seen today. The first written mention of the name of this Palace happened in 1258 and 1267 year was marked by the opening of the chapel of St. Catherine.

In 1320, the castle was part of the possessions of the Habsburgs, and in the 15th century often were laid because of debts. In 1477 during the siege of the castle was destroyed and rebuilt V-1487 years. The most significant changes in the architecture of the Palace occurred in the 16th century with the addition of arcade and installing spiral staircases.

From 1958 to 1964 was held a large-scale reconstruction of the building. The overhaul was completed in the summer of 2007, and on 21 September, the Palace was opened to visitors. During the internal works were discovered numerous frescoes. Since 2007 works in the chapel of St. Catherine.
