The Church of Archangel Michael in Grozny is one of the city's attractions. The Church was erected in 1892 on donations collected Bulgarian, Armenian, Russian merchants and local residents. The Church was built by Terek Cossacks and officers as Chechens. The Church throughout its history has never been closed.

Before the first Chechen war it was one of the two existing Orthodox churches in Checheno-Ingushetia. During hostilities, the temple was almost completely destroyed. All Church furniture was burned, and in January 1996, militants had abducted and shot by the Abbot of the temple priest A. Chistosos. The solemn consecration of the Church took place in November 2006 To this day delivered and installed iconostasis. Local parishioners were transferred to the Church utensils, spiritual literature, food, clothing and shoes.
