Historical Museum in Kavarna received the status of city in 1971. Initially, the first exhibition was housed in the library building in the city center.
After the Liberation Museum business is beginning to grow with new vigor. In the report of the Archaeological community of Varna 1906 mentions the names of Kavarna and Museum figures. 14 November 1956 occurred the approval of the Fund of the Museum of Kavarna and the first Director was appointed Ivan Ravilov. To 1974 he gathered a small archaeological collection, which was in the headquarters of the local community "Kaliakra".
In 2003 the Museum moved to a specially constructed building. On a small exhibition area presents various artifacts discovered in the region of Kavarna. In addition, in the complex you can see a collection of photos, which gives an idea about the appearance of the town during the nineteenth century. Collected in the Museum of old books, pictures and weapons – evidence of the difficult fate of the inhabitants of Kavarna, their struggle for freedom and independence. A special place is occupied by the exposition dedicated to the history of the settlement of Chirakman – ancient and medieval predecessor of the modern city.
In 2007, the Museum was given a new building, which placed temporary exhibitions. Here visitors can see old maps and prints, the latest findings from the ancient fortress of Kaliakra, etc.
The city Museum exhibits, including a mock prehistoric cave sites, tools, tools, weapons, household items, jewelry, textiles, clothing, etc., talk about the millennial history of Kavarna – from ancient times to the present day.
