The Church of St. George in the town of Kavarna - the oldest building in the city, belonging to the epoch of the Bulgarian revival. According to the inscription carved in stone above the South gate, the temple was built in 1836.
As a result Kavarna rebellion in 1877, when there was a struggle of the local people for liberation, the city was set on fire. Because of the fire also damaged the Church of St. George. At the end of the XIX century the building was restored, at the North-Western corner was attached to it, the tower, and along the Western and southern wall was built wide ledge. Currently the temple is a small rectangular building with a porch. An open bell tower with a dome element, traditional Bulgarian Church architecture.
By the decision of local authorities, St. George was declared the patron Saint of Kavarna. In honor of this Saint was called and the Orthodox Church in the city.
In the nave with a semi-cylindrical ceiling is the altar. Along walls rows of icons, which depict scenes from the Holy Scriptures.
Unusual architecture and valuable icons stored in the Church, make it a unique monument of history and culture of Bulgaria.
