The Museum complex "the universe of Water" is one of the newer museums in Russia. Located in the Water tower and the former underground tank Main waterworks in Shpalernaya street, 56, opposite the Tauride Palace in St. Petersburg. The tower was erected in the brick style in the period from 1859 to 1862 years by architects E. G. Superskin and I. A. Merz. The Museum shows the history, current state and prospects of water supply and sanitation Petersburg, water use in the home, the state of water resources.

The exhibition "Underground world of St. Petersburg" is a multimedia project located in the left wing of the Water tower. On the theme of water: water as standard, water as a great secret, water music, water as medicine, water as the destroyer. Surrounding guests of the Museum space is changeable as water itself: changing the visuals, the sounds, the lights.

On the third floor there is a historical exhibition, consisting of 2 parts: the first tells the story of water in the history of human civilization and on water supply and sanitation among the peoples of Egypt, Mesopotamia, China, Assyria, ancient Greece and Rome and medieval Europe. Separately is the story about water in Russia. The second part of the exhibition devoted to water and wastewater of St. Petersburg since its formation and until 1858.

On fourth and fifth floors of the collected materials on the water supply and Sewerage in Petersburg, 1858-1917. With 1858 begins the story of St. Petersburg Vodokanal. The exposition is dedicated to the design and construction of water and sewer networks, development of wastewater treatment plants, water quality control. Whole sections narrate about water use in the home, on professional education, scientific research, inventions in the field of water supply and sanitation. At the fifth floor of the restored interior of the office of the managing Director of the St. Petersburg water utilities. There are stands with biographies of the leaders of the St. Petersburg water supply and Sewerage services of the past years.

On the sixth and seventh floors of the exhibition tells about the plumbing sector St. Petersburg in 1917 until the present time.
