The town of Chrudim is easiest to reach from Pardubice. The capital of the region with Chrudim links by bus and train.
Chrudim, named after the river Chrudimka, flowing through the city, is a very picturesque town, situated on the plain near the Iron mountains. It was founded by Slavic tribes in the X century. Two centuries later, this village became interested in the Prince, who built his residence here.
1260 year is considered the founding date of the city. Like many settlements in the district Pardubice, Chrudim was founded by Czech king přemysl Ottokar II. In 1337 the castle of the ruler there was a big fire, after which the residence is already beyond repair. Local residents did not panic and was built in its place a temple of assumption of the virgin Mary. In General, the fires have occurred in the medieval Czech cities constantly.
