The small fishing village of Perdika is one of the most charming and picturesque places of the beautiful Greek island of Aegina. The settlement is located near the Bay of Marathon about 9 km South of the homonymous capital of the island. It is located on a narrow promontory, quite deep into the waters of the Saronic Gulf, thereby forming excellent natural harbour, along which, in fact, had become a town.
Perdika is a traditional Greek village, which has managed to keep its unique character and atmosphere of comfort. For the old part of Perdika characteristic white stone houses with small courtyards, built close to each other, and narrow cobblestone streets. The waterfront is perhaps the most lively place of the city where they like to relax as the locals and guests of Perdika.
Until recently, the main occupation of the inhabitants was fishing. Today in Perdika is actively developing the tourism sector. There is a fairly good selection of comfortable hotels and apartments. Many traditional restaurants, taverns and cafes where you can relax and enjoy delicious local cuisine, concentrated mostly in the waterfront area.
Almost on the edge of the Cape is the main attraction of Perdika Church of Saint Sozon, whose feast day is 7th September, large celebrations. This is one of the most grandiose events of the island of Aegina. The original temple was built here in the early 20th century, but, unfortunately, destroyed during the Second world war. The Church you see today was built after 1947.
Directly opposite Perdika is a small uninhabited island of Moni with stunning scenery and great beaches. In summer from the port of Perdika on the island on a regular basis runs a pleasure boat. To organize the trip to the island and you can own, you can rent a boat or a yacht.
The beautiful beaches of Perdika and its surroundings, relaxing atmosphere and the warm hospitality of local residents every year attracts more and more tourists. Very popular town and enjoys the Greeks, so weekends are especially crowded.
