Astrakhan Opera and ballet theatre is situated in the centre of Astrakhan, on the street with a friend. The theater building was built in pseudo-Russian style, which is organically combined with decorative elements of art Nouveau. Architectural form of the building echoes with such famous masterpieces as the GUM, Moscow historical Museum. In addition, the appearance of the theater and viewed the features of the bell towers and cathedrals of the Astrakhan Kremlin.

Concert hall of the Astrakhan Opera and ballet theatre can accommodate up to twelve hundred spectators, the total area of the theatre is fifty-two thousand square meters. Theater concert hall for its excellent acoustics, the consultation which was conducted with experts from the Paris Grand Opera and Saint Petersburg's Mariinsky theatre.

The theatre was opened in 1995. During his work, we have implemented many different productions including operas, operettas, musicals, ballet performances, children's musical performances and more. Today Astrakhan Opera and ballet works closely with the Bolshoi theatre of Russia, "the New Opera" (Moscow) and other well-known domestic and foreign theatre companies. More than nine years, the troupe takes part in the annual International festival of vocal art named after V. Barsova and M. Maksakova, which is held in Astrakhan.
