Castle Liba is often called the Palace of Liebenstein. It is situated in the same locality over a small rivulet.
Unfortunately, until the present day castle is preserved not in the best condition. Since 2008 they are the architects and builders who are trying to restore it to its former greatness.
And there were times when a powerful fortress, which rises not far from františkovy lázně, inspired awe all foreign invaders. It was created by rich feudal Lord Rupert New-Liebenstein at the same time as the town around it, in the XIII century. After literally 40 years more about the castle is not mentioned in any chronicle, on the basis of what historians make the assumption that the owner of the castle died, leaving no heirs, and the structure began to crumble unattended.
Only in 1346 the castle remembered and gave it into the possession of a certain františek, whose descendants laid the castle, as it was in desperate need of cash. Then intervened the Czech king and gave him one of his retainers, who immediately sold the property appeared to the genus Sedico. This family owned the castle Liba until the end of the Second world war, when the Palace was confiscated by the state. But the Czech Republic and it was not until some fortresses on the border with Germany. The castle fell into decay, and in 2008 he almost burned due to the negligence of the guards.
The castle, despite the fact that there are under renovation, is open to visitors, but modern tourists are reluctant to come here, preferring the more famous buildings of this kind.
