The princely Palace was built in the XVIII century in Kotor. It is a unified ensemble of the facade of the Eastern part of the city, along with guard tower. In the past, the Palace was used as the residence of the Venetian governors, and served for different strategic military purposes.

Until 1667 on the site of the Palace, there existed another medieval building, which was destroyed after the earthquake, destroying under the rubble of his previous Governor. One of the main monuments of Kotor Palace do not outstanding architectural and stylistic value, but its historical importance.

However, the architectural proportions of the Palace can be called a kind: the length of the Foundation of the building is 60 meters, the width of the Foundation of the building is equal to 6 meters. In view of these unusual proportions, the Palace suffered many times due to earthquakes. The last and most devastating occurred in Montenegro in 1979, after which the Prince's Palace was almost completely destroyed. In addition, the earthquake damaged neighboring buildings of the middle Ages.
