Don Gustavo Adolfo Wulf Mowle, a prominent businessman and philanthropist from Valparaiso, in 1881 decided to start the construction of the residence on the beach in viña del Mar. This wolf had to get special permission for the construction of the building. His request was granted in 1904, giving permission for construction in a specific location: on a rock, situated between the mouth of the rivers Estero Marga Marga and Caleta Abarca beach. His dream came true in 1906. When the work was completed, on the edge of the cliff towered castle. This two-story building in German and French style was designed on the model of the ancient mansions of Liechtenstein. The Foundation was of stone, and three towers with two large terraces were built of wood.

At the end of 1910, Wolfe had instructed the architect Alberto Cruz monthoux to renovate the building, and the Palace was lined with stone. In 1919 the owner decided to install a tower that had to be placed right over a cliff. In 1920, Wolfe spent the last reconstruction of the building. He increased opening Windows and added a round tower to the main building via a bridge with a transparent floor made of thick glass. This allowed to observe the splendor of the surf: the waves breaking on the rocks right under your feet.

The owner of the lock died in 1946 and left the building Mrs. hope of Artaza. The wolf gave her the permission to renovate the house into a hotel at their own expense and then sell it to the municipality of viña del Mar. As a result, was removed two of the three towers, which expanded the main entrance to the castle, and added a stone building in the English style.

The Palace wolf resembles a medieval castle, especially the arched Windows facing West, and round tower with a crenellated roof, topped by a spire. The predominant building material - stone. The main facade with its English style breaks and softens impressive medieval image of the castle.

The Palace Wolff became the property of the municipality of viña del Mar in 1959. In 1995, the Palace, the wolf was declared a national historic landmark. The castle houses an exhibition centre and Museum on the ground floor there is a gallery with work by contemporary artists and sculptors.
