The settlement of Los Millares is an ancient settlement, located 17 km North of the modern borders of almería. The city, the square was almost 2 hectares that existed in this place since the end of the 4th century to the end of the 2nd century BC Los Millares is located on a high plateau, which is surrounded by the river Andaras. The population of the city in its heyday was reached one thousand people. Los Millares is not only the name of the ancient city, the so-called ancient culture, which replaced the almerian (Ibero-Saharan) culture. For the first time the remains of the ancient city were found in 1891 during the construction of the railway. Some time later, excavations were begun under the direction of archaeologist Luis Siret. The settlement of Los Millares is a settlement surrounded by protective walls and ancient cemetery. In the framework of the research was carried out radiocarbon analysis, which revealed that one of the walls was rebuilt around 3025 BC

Thanks to the excavations, scientists have found that in Los Millares an agricultural area and production of ceramics, residents also mastered the techniques of metal processing, copper smelting. There were found pottery with various patterns, weapons, implements of stone and copper, jewelry, vessels, tissue fragments and other items.

Los Millares reveals most aspects of human life copper age, it also explains a lot in the process of changing historical periods of transition Neolithic to the bronze age.
