Basilica of virgin Mary, the Baroque Cathedral, located in Wambierzyce near the Canteens of the year. Wambierzyce – the so-called "Silesian Jerusalem". This is one of the most popular pilgrimage sites in southern Poland. Currently, there are about a hundred chapels.

According to legend, in the 12th century blind Jan the virgin Mary appeared, after which he received his sight. The place quickly became a magnet for pilgrims. Soon, under the tree was erected an altar, and in 1263 built the first wooden Church. In 1512 appeared brick Church. The Baroque construction of the Cathedral began in 1715. The work was financed by the local nobleman Franz Anton von Gottena.

The temple is a monumental stone staircase at 56 degrees, 33 of which are in the middle symbolize the years of Jesus ' life on earth. The impressive facade height of almost 53 meters decorated in the style of late Renaissance. The facade is visually divided into three parts, the middle one wider than all.

The Baroque interior of the Church is decorated with paintings and sculptures, the most interesting of which are the work of Carl Sebastian Flaker. In the center of the main altar is a statue of the Madonna and Child and two angels, made of Linden wood. The work was done by Flacara in 1723.

In February 1936, Pope Pius XI elevated the Church to the rank of Minor Basilica.
