Museum of fine arts named after M. A. Vrubel in the city of Omsk is the largest art collection in the territory of Siberia, including an extensive collection of Russian and foreign art from ancient times to the present.

Omsk Museum was founded in December, 1924.. At this time in the former the Governor-General's Palace, thanks to the initiative of the first head of the Museum melechina F. V., took place the opening of the gallery at the West Siberian regional Museum. The gallery was created on the basis of delivered from Moscow exhibits disbanded from the Rumyantsev Museum. In subsequent years, the Assembly has regularly been enriched with new works. F. V. Melekhin personally went to Leningrad and Moscow for the selection of the best works of all types and genres.

Between 1950 and 1955, collection of the Omsk Museum of fine arts has increased significantly, especially of works by Soviet artists. In 1955 and in 1962 from the collection of the State Tretyakov gallery and the Museum was given over 100 works of sculpture, painting, graphics and applied art. In 1995 the Museum, exhibiting only on the territory of Siberia paintings of M. Vrubel – triptych "Flowers", was named after this famous Russian artist.

Today in the Museum of a name of M. Vrubel presents the largest collection in Siberia. Just in the Museum there are about 26 thousand units. The Museum is housed in two buildings: the Governor-General's Palace, built in 1862 by the architect F. F. Wagner, and City commercial building, built in 1914 according to the project, designed by architect A. D. Kryachkov (today Vrubel Museum building).

The collection of works of Western art presents works by masters of England, France, Italy, Spain, Flanders, Germany, Holland and Austria XVI - XIX century Collection of icons of the XVII century - beginning of the XX century are characterized by the icons made in Siberia, European Russia and the Urals. Russian art of XVIII - early XX art includes paintings by I. Aivazovsky, Vereshchagin V., A. Venetsianov, Vorobyev M., I. Shishkin, I. Repin, A. Bogolyubov, K. Korovin, F. Vasiliev, V. Polenov, Serov V., Nesterova, M., Borisov-Musatov V. and others of Special interest to visitors of the Museum is an amazing collection of decorative art with the monuments of ancient art.
