The chitralada Palace, or as it is otherwise called, the Royal Villa Chitralada, is the residence of his Majesty king Bhumibol Adulyadej (Rama IX) and Queen Sirikit in Bangkok.

King Rama IX was the first monarch of the Chakri dynasty, who settled in the chitralada Palace. He moved here from the main Royal Palace after the death of his elder brother king Rama VIII.

The Palace covers an area of 4 sq km, constantly guarded Palace guards. Around the perimeter is surrounded by a deep moat. The main building in the Palace consists of two floors, it was founded by king Rama VI, as the entire Palace. The Palace is the school Chitralada, which was established in 1958 for the children of the Royal family. Perhaps it is the closed and exclusive school in the country.

In the Palace there is a cozy garden with ornamental trees and rocks. This is a great place to relax after an active day exploring the capital. However, you should pay attention to appearance. As with all the temples and palaces of Bangkok, it is customary to cover shoulders and knees.

Since king Bhumibol Adulyadej interested in agriculture and rural industry, “Chitralada” became the name of several grocery brands Thailand.
