The local history Museum was opened in 1978. The most important component of the Museum exhibits were operational at the school, which was located in the small village of Spirov Boksitogorsk district. For the most part all of the alleged instances were a household or ethnographic objects, as well as photographs and documents relating to the historical development and the outcome of the great Patriotic war (1941-1945). To date, the Museum has a collection of about 14 thousand of different items.
In the process of sorting and stock acquisition of Museum collections close attention was paid to household items and ethnographic exhibits. Everything connected with ceramics, was presented in the form of pottery, tiles, equipped with stamps and manufactured in our own private works of a wealthy landowner by the name Pirozerskii, which was located in the village of Akulovo and operated until 1918.
The district until 1915 conducted the activity two plants for the production of glasses, one of which was called Ivanovo and was located in the village of Velha and the second Bystritsky plant. The products of these plants are presented in the local Museum of local lore in the form of container glass. In addition, special interest and available porcelain and faience factories Terehova-Kiselevich, Kuznetsova, Kornilov's Brothers were in the hands of local merchants.
During the period from 1993 to 1996, many ethnographic objects in the collections of the Museum, were exhibited in the Russian Museum of Ethnography. The Museum exposition is represented by a collection of graphs relating to the period of establishment of Soviet power is a collection of works by one of the talented professors of the Academy of arts V. Vetrogonskogo, which is dedicated to the native town of Pikalyovo. From the works of Vetrogonskogo can be noted and a series of works relating to the history of development of the Russian Navy, as well as a unique graphic works and paintings by local artists.
The greatest excitement among visitors is the archaeological collection of the local Museum, which tells the story of the development of society, starting from the 4th Millennium BC to 13th century ad. A unique collection of rich stucco fragments of pottery, flint implements, bones of some animals, a variety of tools made of metal and weapons. Pride was the belt buckle, made of bronze, which features images of birds – this thing belongs to the period of 11-12 centuries and has no analogues in the world. Among the variety of archaeological items presented within this collection, is to provide a fragment of the vessel, Dating back to the 16-17 centuries BC. On the shards of the vessel you can see the inscription, probably written in the oldest Indo-European language. It is particularly noteworthy that a fragment of the vessel was found on the territory of modern Russia.
