The main square of Hradec králové is triangular in shape and is called Large. Next to it is a Small area, which, indeed, inferior to the size of its neighbor.

A large area is the heart of the old town. Here is the greatest concentration of tourist attractions, must see real tourists. The main decoration of the square is the Cathedral of the Holy spirit, which was built under Queen Elisha more than seven centuries ago. This formidable structure with two towers diverts attention from young, bright, elegant houses built up area on the perimeter. They settled on the most noble and wealthy citizens. Usually on the first floor opened shops or coffee shops, and second and third was considered residential. Still here are some of the most luxurious shops, souvenir shops, bars and restaurants. The area doesn't go to sleep even at night. Couples sitting on the benches, admiring the stars, night clubs take favorite clients, and it all looks aloof virgin Mary with Marian column, which was erected on the square in 1717.

Near Holy spirit Cathedral is the town hall, which is adjacent to the bell tower of the Cathedral. At the top of the bell tower there is a viewing platform where you can climb to explore the area.

The area also is a facade of the Church of ascension of virgin Mary, which belongs to the Jesuits. On the opposite side of the Large square you can see a gallery displaying works of contemporary art.
