The national Museum is the largest cultural history Museum in the city of Copenhagen. It is located next to Nyhavn opposite the magnificent Royal residence, Christiansborg. The Museum contains exhibits illustrating the history of Denmark from the stone age to modern times, including the period of the Vikings, the middle ages, the Renaissance.

The national Museum is located on four floors in the Palace of Prince Frederick, built in 1743-1744. The author of the project was built by the famous Danish architect Nicolai Eigtved. In 1892 he held the official opening of the Museum. Here historical exhibits not only Denmark but also ethnographic collections of other peoples of the world.

On the ground floor of the National Museum there is an exposition, which refers to the prehistoric period. Among the exhibits are particularly interesting ancient stones with runic inscriptions, Trundholm chariot, Golden horn from Gallehus, silver pot, a cart from Giberga. The Museum also has a magnificent collection of medieval Royal medals, ancient coins, weapons, furnishings, paintings, ornaments, Golden altars, utensils, jewelry. In addition to the permanent exhibition in the Museum often hosts special exhibitions.

Today the national Museum is a repository of works of art, to see that attracts a large number of people from all over the world.
