Church Orthodox Museum Kuopio is one of the most important Church museums in Western Europe. It is subordinate to the Finnish Orthodox Church Board and has the status of a state. The Museum was founded in 1957, the building was built in 1969 In the Museum's icons, liturgical vestments, Church utensils brought from Valaam and Konevets monastery. Most of the collection dated back to XVIII-XIX centuries, and the old things to the middle ages. Many of the exhibits come to the Museum during the Second world war.
