NY Carlsberg Glyptotek is one of the major art museums of Copenhagen. The Museum is located in the city center, behind Tivoli gardens.

Based Carlsberg Glyptotek was in the 19th century, a great admirer of art by Carl Jacobsen - son of the famous Danish brewer Carlsberg. Carl Jacobsen and his wife, Ottilia were collectors and fine art lovers, especially of ancient times. In 1888 they donated his vast collection to the Danish state. The collection was placed in the new building, over time, the Museum got the name NY Carlsberg Glyptotek.

The author of the project of the first wing of the Museum in 1897 was the famous architect Wilhelm Dalerup. In 1906 under the direction of architect Khaki Kampmann work began on the expansion and improvement of the Museum building. A new wing was designed and domed walls of the Winter garden. In 1996, the Museum has expanded the genius architect Henning Larsen.

The Museum is on display works of art from different eras. On the ground floor presents a large collection of sculptures of Kaya Nielsen, Degas, Rauch, and the work of the famous French sculptor Rodin. You can also see here a vast collection of ancient sculptures from Egypt (reliefs from the tombs), Middle East (reliefs of the Assyrian palaces and gravestones), Greece (in particular, known archaic "head rice", VI.), Cyprus and Etruria (sarcophagi). On the second floor presents a collection of paintings by Danish artists of the XIX century, French artists and other classics of the late XIX century - early XX century (in particular Paul Gauguin).

NY Carlsberg Glyptotek is an important historical attraction in Denmark. Every year the Museum is visited by many tourists from around the world.
