In the Museum quarter of the city of Gorodets, Nizhny Novgorod region in 2007 opened a Museum of samovars. The Museum is located in a mansion of the nineteenth century, belonged before the revolution to the merchant Grishaeva. Two-storey house with wooden carved window frames is a monument of architecture and urbanism of the second half of the nineteenth century and the beautiful sight of Gorodets.
Most of the exhibitions of the Museum of samovars is a private collection of Nikolai Polyakov, has granted more than 400 unique instances (considered the largest collection in Russia). Collecting patron began with surname samovar, inherited from his grandfather.
The exposition of the Museum includes 500 samovars, and a variety of original items for the Russian tea ceremony. The diversity of Russian identity presented in the form of home and road samovars, coffee pots, samovars "Tete-a-tete" and "Selfish", most of which are branded. Special attention is paid to the samovars "Kitchen", produced at the Ural factories Demidova. This samovar is divided into three parts - two were prepared soups and porridge, and the third tea. The biggest samovar holds 53 litres, while the smallest 75 ml Original looks samovar "don Juan": stands with arms akimbo, on the sides of the handle, patterned hat. The "nobility" of the samovar decoration are lion heads, and generous "Tavern" has three taps.
The collection of the Museum of samovars is constantly updated with gifts from distinguished guests and lovers of old Russian traditions. Also, the Museum exhibits a large collection of antique irons.
