Rundale castle is famous not only in Latvia, but also outside the country. This is an outstanding monument of architecture is located in the village; then, 12 km from Bauska or 50 km from Jelgava. In 1920, the Palace became the property of the Republic of Latvia. In 1933 the building of the Rundale castle were transferred to the Museum of history. The second world war did not cause any damage to the Palace, although in the postwar years, several buildings were rebuilt into a granary. Rundale Palace Museum was founded in 1972.
