Mining Park-Museum in Kohtla located in the village of Kohtla-nõmme close to Kohtla-järve. The Museum opened a few years ago on the site of the former mines oil shale. The mine was closed in the 90-ies, when reduced consumption of oil shale. Initially it wanted to flood, but later decided to organize on the basis of the Museum. The Museum takes organized groups, single travelers also tour different way. In the season, i.e. in summer months, you don't have to wait long for the set of groups, and at other times it is better to call and find out about ongoing trips.

The tour lasts about one and a half hours. Before entering you properly equip: you will receive a jacket as the temperature in the mine is constant and is approximately 8 degrees, a helmet with a flashlight and a battery for the bulb.

The tour starts with a descent into the mine the stairs, which, however, does not take much time, as the shale mines are usually not too deep, about 10 meters. To the right place you experience a small mining train, which previously to the extraction of rock the miners went.
