The house-Museum of Konstantin Tsiolkovsky, the famous Russian scientist, is a founder of theoretical Astronautics, is located at the entrance to Kaluga near Oka.

This house was purchased by K. E. Tsiolkovsky in 1904 when the building was one story with one living room. In 1908 the house was seriously damaged by severe floods. The last two years of life Tsiolkovsky lived in the house № 1 on street Tsiolkovsky, who gave him Kaluga city Council at its 75th anniversary.

Tsiolkovsky died in 1935 After a year in his house was a Museum, the first exhibition which had a scientific memorial character and talked about the important activities of the scientist. In the autumn of 1941, the Museum has been suspended in connection with the occupation of the city. In the house - Museum were settled by German soldiers. The most important stage in the life of the House-Museum of Konstantin Tsiolkovsky was 1957, when we celebrated the 100th anniversary from the birthday of the great scientist. At this time, in the scientific-technical section of the house from the Academy of Sciences received a new exhibition organized on the initiative of S. P. Korolev

When in 1967 in Kaluga was opened the Museum of cosmonautics, the house-Museum of the scientist became one of its departments. Courtyard with outbuildings, the interiors were recreated in the form in which they were when Tsiolkovsky. In the spring of 1968, the Museum was closed for restoration, and the fall has already opened its new exhibition as biograficheskii memorial Museum. Authors subject-exposition of the plan were made by V. V. Kazakevich, A.V. Kostin, artist and architect Bilibin G. N., the author of the restoration project was Dmitracova Etc. the house is restored to its former appearance.
