Museum "the memorial" is located in the historical part of the city and, together with the adjoining area, constitute a single ensemble. The author of this project was the people's architect of Russia A. S. Temirkanov. The memorial was erected to the 30-year anniversary of Victory in the great Patriotic war.

The opening of the memorial devoted to the Siberian Krasnoyarsk, was held in may 1975 on the opening day in the town square, immediately in front of the Memorial, Hero of the Soviet Union, participant of the great Patriotic war, Dmitry Martynov lit the "Eternal flame".

In all the years of its existence, the Museum was rebuilt several times. For example, in 1975, it consisted only of the Hall of Memory, where the list of victims in the great Patriotic war of Krasnoyarsk citizens. The Central part of the hall was decorated with a circular panorama of the "Grieving mother", which made the Krasnoyarsk artist Dmitry Grigorovich. In 1985 at the memorial exposition hall was built, today there are exhibits telling about the events of 1941-1945: samples of different weapons, military equipment, personal belongings of soldiers, letters and documents of the wartime. Here is one of the working versions of the monument, which was performed Krasnoyarsk architect K. Sinochem "Siberians - the defenders of Moscow". A little later were monuments to honor soldiers who died in local wars in the period of peace, one of participants of liquidation of the Chernobyl accident, and the victims of Stalinist repression.

In 2000, the memorial was reconstructed again - was erected over the building's domed roof, and the walls were lined with slabs of marble chips. Five years later, in the 60th anniversary of the Victory, the construction was attached guest room. Currently, it holds annual meeting of participants of the war, festive events, various exhibitions and even a wedding ceremony.

Today in the Museum you can see 20 pictures depicting monumental objects, the most famous monuments in the heroic cities where you fought the Siberian division.
