More than 3 thousand years ago the ancestors of the most ancient agricultural tribes of the people of Ifugao, the direct descendants of which still live in Banaue, transformed the harsh mountain landscape, creating livable territory. It is worth noting that these fields was done almost manually, only using primitive tools.

Today the fields are still used for rice cultivation.
