The mosque of Pasha Qasim is one of the symbols of pécs. It is located in the centre of town on the highest point of the city's Central square – széchenyi square. Nowadays it functions as a Roman Catholic Church. Building, square in cross-section, a width of a hundred steps, was built by the Pasha Qasim the Victorious in the period between 1543 and 1546 for years. In 1660-ies of Evliya çelebi, the famous Turkish traveller wrote about the greatness of this building.

The minaret of the mosque was demolished by the Jesuits in 1766. A number of changes in the architecture of the building was made during the 18th to 20th centuries. In the end, from the original architecture of the square is the only remaining octagonal facade, covered with a dome. The interior of the Church is interesting murals and quotations from the Koran. Today the Mosque of Pasha Kassim is one of the largest buildings of the Ottoman period in Hungary
