Lumbarda is a small fishing village, which is home to about 1200 people. It is situated on the East of the island of Korcula, about five kilometers from the old town of Korcula. The village is built around a small Bay and on the hills beyond, and surrounded by many vineyards. The road to Lumbarda passes through picturesque pine forests and olive groves.

The Greek settlement formed here in the third century BC; finds Dating to this period can be seen in the city Museum of korčula. North-East of Lumbarda village near the beach Bilin žal was a Roman Villa. Since the 16th century wealthy landowners of korčula built summer houses here. They were located on the best land around Lumbarda, some of them are still in good condition and occupied.

The parish Church of St Rock stands on Vela Glavica settlement - the hill amongst the old Lumbarda village, also in the village itself there is a small old chapels: St. Bartholomew, St. Peter, the Nativity of the virgin. The Church of the Holy cross 1774 has a characteristic porch, surrounded by vineyards.

For centuries the inhabitants of Lumbarda village were farmers, growers, fishermen and masons. Hence there are several prominent contemporary Croatian painters and sculptors: Ivo Lozica, Lujo Lozica, Stipe Nobilo and, most famously, the Franc, Krsinic who created a bronze World war II memorial in the village centre and a bronze relief of "Fishermen" near the hotel "Lumbarda".

In Lumbarda for tourists there are hotels, campsites, private boarding houses, restaurants, shops and a small Marina. In the taverns and Inns serving traditional dishes such as fresh grilled fish, seasoned with olive oil, with local white wine. There are around Lumbarda beautiful sandy beaches, which are very rare for the Adriatic sea, and stone and pebble.
