The least the city's famous Gothic Church of saints Peter and Paul is situated, however, in the most attractive place of Wroclaw, where thousands of tourists visit daily. Next to the Church is famous for the Tumski bridge and the Baroque building of the former house for the orphans of noble birth, which was previously called Orfanotrofio. A facade of the Church goes on Cathedral street, and the wall of the presbytery is adjacent to one of the housings Orfanotrofio, the premises of which is currently busy training institution, a radio station called "Family" and some Church services. By the way, the Church and the former home for orphans was connected by a covered walkway in 1927.
The Church of saints Peter and Paul was built of red brick in the Gothic style in the period from 1404, which raised chancel, to the year 1454, when fully completed work on the nave.
This temple many times has survived fire, but steadily being rebuilt. The first major destruction from a fire occurred in 1634, the second in 1791. The Church building during the renovation changed a bit, its facade gives the Baroque features and reconstructed the interior space of the Church.
In 1813 the Church was turned into a hospital for prisoners French soldiers. Since at this time no one followed the safety of Church utensils and sacred objects, it is not surprising that after the end of the Napoleonic wars, the Church was in a deplorable condition. It was again repaired in 1884. Then his look changed to resemble Gothic.
In 1945 the fighting in Wroclaw suffered and the Church of saints Peter and Paul. He had completely destroyed the roof. Poles reconstructed in 1952-1953 year and re-opened the Church for believers.
Near the temple you can see a sculpture depicting St. Peter. She was transferred here from the Church of the blessed virgin on Paseka.
