Paleontological Museum named after Y. A. Orlov is one of the largest natural history museums in the world. The history of the Museum began with the Kunstkammer, which in 1716 was founded by Peter the great Kunstkamera there have been finds of fragments of skeletons of prehistoric animals.

In the first (introductory) room visitors can see the skeleton of a mammoth. It is a symbol of Russian paleontology. The skeleton was found in 1842 in Siberia industrialist Trofimov. The skeleton was carefully transported to Moscow. It was a unique gift to the Moscow society of naturalists.
Next stop is the hall of Precambrian and late Paleozoic, which introduces the most ancient organisms on Earth. It accommodates a plate on which there are fingerprints and traces the movement of ancient soft-bodied multicellular organisms. Their age is impressive. He more than 550 million years. In Suburban hall you can learn about the geological history of the Moscow region. You can see the animals that lived in the Moscow region in different geological epochs.
In the hall late Paleozoic is represented by the North-Dvina gallery of reptiles collected in 1898-1914, Professor Amalitsky. From the latest findings can distinguish a plate with traces of reptiles pareiasaurus.
In the Mesozoic hall, you can see the skeletons and skulls of carnivorous and herbivorous dinosaurs.
