One of the first original sculpture of the city of Murmansk became a monument to Anatoly Bregovo. The monument was erected on the funds of the city residents. Brads Anatoly Fedorovich – Hero of the Soviet Union, commander of the branch machine-gun 155-th infantry regiment, belonging to the 14th infantry division of the Fourteenth army of the Karelian front; he held a military position of Sergeant. Brads A. F. was born 14 July 1923 in the city of Novgorod in an ordinary worker's family. In Murmansk he graduated from the seven-year school, and in 1938 went to work as an electrician in the shipyard of the city of Murmansk. In April 1942 delusional called to military service in the red Army.

In the autumn of 1944 155-th regiment decided to take to the road Titovka-Petsamo and begin the assault of one of the heights called Roadside. After making such a heroic feat Anatoly Bregovo was posthumously awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union.

In 1956 came the idea to commemorate the feat delusional, which was the initiative of the students of the Higher naval College, which has offered the youth of the city to collect funds for the building of the monument. This caused in Murmansk wide approval. During Saturdays and Sundays, the youth collected waste paper and scrap metal, and then sent the proceeds to the dedicated Fund. The city Council of the young Communist League decided to conclude an agreement on the establishment of the monument in cooperation with the pictorial and sculptural works in Leningrad. The order has taken the team under the guidance of a talented young sculptor Yastrebinetskogo G. D.

The opening ceremony of the monument took place on 9 may 1958. On the opening day of the monument at eight o'clock almost all the population of the city gathered at the intersection between trade Unions and Lenin Avenue. During the ceremony, speakers proclaimed the fiery speech and swore eternal loyalty to the country, an honor which gave his life Anatoly brads. The most important speech of the ceremony was an address by Fyodor Mikhailovich, the father of the fallen hero, who himself was a veteran. The warrior stands on a granite block, which in its soulless peace contrasts with the figure of a soldier, full of determination.
