24 hectares of fertile land were purchased in the early XX century botanist, scientist, and just a very enthusiastic person by the name of Guido Riedel to create a unique collection of rare plants collected from around the globe. He enthusiastically set to work and within a few months landed here about 500 different types of trees, shrubs and flowers that grew not only in the most remote corners of the planet, but in the Moravian-Silesian region. So there was one of the most fascinating natural parks of the Czech Republic on the basis of which in 1958 was founded the arboretum Nový dvůr. Now this protected area belongs to the Silesian municipal Museum.
In 1928 Riedl left Silesia, leaving the Park, which became his life, his daughter Elisabeth. He made her promise to take care of the estate, which she did until 1945. In this time of new plants in the Park, so we can conclude that the reserve has entered its phase of decline. After the second world war about him, no one cared. Here appeared the weeds that interfere with the free growth of exotic plants. And only in 1958 began a new round of development of this Park.
At the moment in the arboretum about 7 thousand plants that grow on 5 continents. There is the age-old cedars and delicate orchids, luxurious, lush rhododendrons and prickly cacti the size of a man.
The whole Park is divided into climate zones, so the sand dunes await the swamp, pine forest, Alpine lawns, Japanese garden and so on.
