All Saints Church Photo: All Saints Church

Pilsner Church of All Saints is situated away from the historic centre. At the time of its construction, the land on which it is located, was not even a part of the city. It was erected in the small village of Zagori and surrounded by a cemetery. The first Foundation stone of the Church was laid in XIII. From the original Romanesque building up to this day preserved the stones in the wall of the sacristy. In 1380 the Church entirely rebuilt in the Gothic manner. Looking at a modern Church building, you can see some of the elements characteristic of the style of flamboyant Gothic. This is a specific form of the portal and unusual ornament on Windows.

During the Hussite wars the Church of All Saints was badly damaged, it was repaired and reopened for the parishioners. In the XVI century the facade of the Church has been upgraded, giving it a Renaissance features, and decorated the vault of the Cathedral masterfully written frescoes.

The thirty years war was merciful to the Church. It is not destroyed, but merely adapted for the dogs. Another reconstruction of the Church took place in 1743, when the portal of the temple was attached a kind of canopy.

Modern archaeologists became interested in the Church and cemetery that surrounds it. In recent research, during which the Church building was completely renovated, documents were found in 1938. The researchers used a found stash message for future generations: years later someone will find a letter from the past.

The main treasure of the Church interior was a relief 1410, which is now stored at the West-Bohemian Museum. Vintage Central altar, the victim in the Second world war, restore failed, so in the Church is its modern equivalent. The side altars have been moved to the Church of All Saints from the Church of Saint Roch, which was closed by Emperor Joseph II, partly preserved.
