Pilsen Republic square was once called the Market and are considered the heart of the medieval city. In buildings located along its perimeter, lived rich and noble people who had been anxious to emphasize their wealth by the rich finishes of their own homes. As decoration sculptures, stucco and various decorations, even sometimes served as a source of whimsical, allegorical names of houses on which they were placed. So, the house is located near the residence of the local Bishop, called the house "red Heart", because on the railing of his balcony you can see a small metal heart, painted red.
This house was built in 1894 in Art Nouveau style and was restored in 1996 by architect Rudolf Stejam. On the facade of the building is a talented artist Mikoláš aleš wrote a fresco in the medieval style, which was the reason that the house is now under the protection of the Czech Republic.
The painting is an image of two knights, clad in battle armor and holding flags. It is a reminder of knightly tournaments, which were held on the Market square of Pilsen in 1555. These games have gathered hundreds of spectators: peasants, artisans, merchants and noblemen, who gathered here from all around.
In our time in the house "red Heart" is the Czech savings Bank. So every tourist can visit it to have at least one eye to see the interiors of famous buildings.
