In Republic square, near the hotel "Central" and home "red Heart" is a neat multi-storey building, which was the residence of the local bishops. Old Gothic building, which belonged to a wealthy bourgeois, was purchased in 1344 priest Rachelina for the knights of the Teutonic order, who did it in something like a parish Church and divine service performed here. It was not until 1564, while control over the Commission services took over the city.
In 1710 the Bishop's residence is undergoing great changes. Under the guidance of architect Jakub Auguston its facade rebuilt in Baroque style. The look of the residence since then has not changed, so we can see her exactly as she appeared before the citizens immediately after the repair.
By the way, this is not the first renovation of this building. 1507 in Pilsen there was a big fire that destroyed a lot of houses right in the centre of the city. Suffered and the Bishop's residence. It is very quickly recovered and continued to hold services there.
Despite the change of regimes in the Czech Republic, the Catholic Church has maintained this building. In it still are the main ranks of the Church of Pilsen.
In 1993, the residence has updated, but the interior remained the same. In the main hall you can see portraits of secular and ecclesiastical leaders, for example, a picture of Charles VI and Pope innocent brush Pilsen artist Julia Lux.
The Bishop's residence is a monument of culture of the Czech Republic.
