The majestic building of the West-Bohemian Museum is the main portal to the river Radbuza. This magnificent building was purpose built in 1898 to accommodate the richest Museum collections, which were stored in the city. Architect Josef Skorpilov developed the project of a building in neo-Renaissance style. On the construction of the Museum was a local company Edward Pipsqueak, who was invited for the interiors are some of the leading artists of the time. Decorative stucco facade was created by the sculptor of Zelda Kloucek, painting of the main hall was entrusted to the artist Augustine Namazu, and the relief that adorn the wide staircase belonged to the cutter vojtěch Schaff. The interiors of the Museum were designed in fashionable in those days, the manner of art Deco.

At the end of XX century the Museum building was completely updated. The restorers took care of the reconstruction of crystal chandeliers and brass chandeliers, which were produced at the beginning of the last century. Was also completely replaced the roof and some of the stained glass Windows.

West-Bohemian Museum has several branches that are placed in different parts of the city. This Ethnic Museum, the doll Museum, the Museum of Church art and exhibition of objects from the collection of Dr. Simon Adler. The main exhibition building is located in the West-Bohemian Museum. A large collection of rifles, pistols, muskets, dated XIV-XVII centuries, is considered a local pride and love men of all ages. The Armory was founded during the reign of Charles IV.
