The Church of Saint Dominic (Santo Domingo) is a Catholic Church in Santiago de Chile. The place where now stands the Church and monastery belongs to the friars-the Dominicans with 1557, as the Dominican order was one of the first religious orders who came to Chile in the sixteenth century. But three of the previous Church building, erected on the site were destroyed during the earthquakes in 1595, 1647 and 1730, which influenced the further local urbanism.

Historically, Dominicans has always placed great value and importance to the process of education and training believers. In 1622 there was opened the first Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas.

The construction of this temple was begun in 1747 by the architect Juan de Los Santos Vasconcellos. In 1795, the architect joaquín Toesca took full responsibility at the final stage of the building of the temple.

The architectural complex consists of the monastery and the Church. The temple of Santo Domingo, built in neoclassical style with some typical elements of Baroque. In the Church of Santo Domingo, the most interesting to visit is the sculpture of our lady of the Rosary, Saint Pius V, Saint Catherine of Siena, St. Thomas Aquinas and St. rose of Lima.

St. Dominic's Church was declared a national monument of Chile in 1951.
