The Basilica and the Bishop's Palace side are some of the most interesting and famous sights of the country. This remarkable example of Byzantine architecture is close to the East gate of the city, at the intersection of two streets – a pillar of the street originating from the Main gate of the city, and the streets leading from the East gate of the city of side. The entrance to the building is located on the East side.

Basilica of the Bishop is considered one of the oldest structures preserved in Turkey to the present day. Approximate date of commencement of its construction – 6th century BC. As the Basilica and the Palace, have their special geometric proportion.

The complex consists of many buildings. In the centre of the Basilica is a square living room, which consists of three small compartments. After narthex (indoor space between the entrance and middle in the front wall of the Church) Basilica divided into three naves with two slender rows of columns. The altar faces East. Inside he looks round, and externally – has a triangular shape. In the altar room had previously been a three-stage seats for the Ministers of the Basilica.

Rectangular baptismal design is North of the altar space, it is possible to go through a fairly narrow corridor. In the baptismal room, three offices, and its walls are decorated with semi-circular and rectangular stone niches. In the middle of the room is a marble baptismal pool with three steps leading to the West. In the Northern and southern parts of the baptismal facilities were constructed two semi-circular basin, yielding baptismal in size. Ceiling of the Basilica was a set of brick belts.

To the South of the Basilica is the Episcopal Palace, it consists of parallel spaced areas of different shapes. Between these two designs to be Martian (room-tomb), in the Western part of which is the entrance to the Palace. Corridors, indoor graceful stone arches, connecting the rooms of the Palace. Room Bishop, is rectangular in shape and divided into three parts. The roof arches of the Palace differ from each other in size, looks very nice from the outside. Near the Palace is the small chapel of the Bishop.

Once all this architectural complex was surrounded by high walls and was situated in a beautiful garden. Its area is about 9700 sq. m. the Basilica and the Palace were laid out and partially built in the period when the side was chosen as the site of the residence of the Bishop, but its final form is only acquired through several centuries.

Unfortunately, today the Basilica is in a dilapidated condition, but despite this, the original Turkish architecture, ably supplemented by Byzantine motifs drawn to this set of a large number of connoisseurs historical features of the ancient culture of Turkey.
