The metochion of the Holy Trinity Stefano-Ulyanovsk monastery is located in the city of Syktyvkar on the street grandma, 20. The building was built in the years 1882-1889. Is a monument of history and culture protected by the state. You can find this information on the Board installed on the building in 2006.
According to legend, the monastery is associated with the activities of St. Stephen, Bishop of Perm (late fourteenth century). Information about what time it was founded has not survived, but we know that in the 60th year of the XIX century in the village Ulanovo Ust-Sysolsk uyezd work of the Trinity Stefano-Ulyanovsk monastery was renewed.
The first building of a Farmstead restored Trinity Stefano-Ulyanovsk monastery in the town of Ust-Sysolsk (now Syktyvkar) was donated in 1866, merchant's widow Sidorova. It was a 2-whatany log house, covered with wood, typical of wealthy citizens.
About the building of a Farmstead at the corner of Sukhanov (modern grandma's street) and Trinity (Lenin street) in 1877 was built a wooden St. Stephan's Church. In 1882 20 metres in a South-westerly direction from him on the red line of the street Sukhanov was started the construction of a spacious Farmstead buildings of stone, which culminated in finishing work in 1889. The building was adapted to the needs of the Ulyanovsk monks who lived in the city, and pilgrims in Ulyanovsk monastery. After the monastery and the nationalization of the building there were various Soviet organizations: folk theatre, ballet school.
In 1996 the building of the Monastery was transferred to the use, and in 2000 – in the property, established a year earlier of Syktyvkar and Vorkuta diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate (ROC MP). At present, there is a Diocesan office of the ROC MP, house Church of Christ and the representation of the Ulyanovsk Trinity-St. Stephen's men's monastery. In 2008 was launched the reconstruction of the building. This was possible thanks to the funds allocated from the budget of the Republic of Komi.
