The Opera and ballet theatre of Komi Republic traces its history back to August 26, 1958. This day was held in Syktyvkar premiere of the musical performance "Eugene Onegin" by P. I. Tchaikovsky. First artistic Director, singer and actor B. Deineka. With their peers and colleagues, he has created a cohesive team of professionals. This generation laid the Foundation traditions of acting, which are intertwined with the art of singing.

Since the beginning of its existence, the theatre was included in the repertoire of the best examples of world ballet, Opera and operetta classics, works by contemporary Russian and foreign composers. Many theatrical performances were awarded the all-Union and state awards.

The theater went on tour to different cities of the country. It – Moscow, Nizhny Novgorod, Tver, Bryansk, Kremenchug, Poltava, Ufa, Orenburg and others. With a theatre company successfully worked with famous conductors: V. P. Kaplun Vladimir V. Malakhov, N. Klaus, J. Proskurov; Directors: I. Orlovsky, K. Vasilev, I. Bobrikov and choreographers: G. Wachowski, L. Bordzilovsky, L. phlegmatic persons are, Boris Myagkov and others. During the whole period of its existence, the theatre was rich in creative individuals. The middle them – Yuri Bakhtin, G. Kuznetsov, V. Mikhailov, Y. Fomin and others.

In 1969, the theatre moved into the new building, which became the basis for further creative growth. The theatre began to exist apart from music and drama and became an independent team. In 1960 was staged Opera "Storm over Ust-Coloma", Dehtyarova. In subsequent years on the stage the operas: "Ilych" I. Perepelitsa, "Domna Kalikova" B. Archimandrita, operetta: "the Village is my" P. Castalia, "no fluff, No pen" I. Perepelitsa, the legend-the musical "Necklace of Sudbay M. gertsman contemporary art, the ballet "the snow Queen", "Vaupell". Classics of national art is delivered in 1961 ballet "IG-mort" I. Perepelitsa.

Today in theatre pay much attention to young and talented composers in December 1998 in music I. Blinnikova staged musical for children "Grisena on the planet lokhmatov", and in 2000 – "new adventures of the French witches Madeleine".

Currently the theatre is a creative center with a high level of artistic and musical culture and memorable productions including: the Opera "Eugene Onegin", "Queen of spades", "Iolanta" by P. Tchaikovsky; the Opera "Rigoletto", "Otello", "La Traviata" by G. Verdi. Verdi's "Russalka" by A. Dargomyzhsky, as well as masterpieces of the world choreography: ballet "the Nutcracker", "Swan lake", "Sleeping beauty" by P. Tchaikovsky, La Sylphide" H. Levenshulme, "don Quixote" by L. Minkus, "the Firebird" by Igor Stravinsky, "Giselle" by A. Adam. The repertoire of this theatre the best classical operetta: "Mr. X," "My fair lady", "the Merry widow", "don Juan in Seville", "Maritza", "the Bat" and others. Special attention is given in the theatre of young spectators. Traditionally each season for children is one or two performances.

Syktyvkar theatre of Opera and ballet became a prominent Russian theater where guests are the stars of ballet and Opera in Europe and Russia. It is evident from annual festivals: "Syktyvkar spring" and "Golden swallow". Regular organizer and Director of the festival ballet and Opera art "Syktyvkar spring acts I. Bobrikov. This festival in 1997 became the Laureate of the state prize of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Festival of ballet art of the Finno-Ugric regions "Golden swallow" – is quite young, but is already a great success among the locals. It is headed by the Moscow ballet critic N. Sadovskaya. It is through such festivals, the audience Syktyvkar can enjoy the art of Opera stars: I. Bogacheva, V. Piavko, A. Dedic, V. Shcherbakova, T. Rastovic, H. Hadagan; great masters of choreography: N.
