Vilsandi national Park is a group of Islands located in the Baltic sea, near the North-Western coast of the Estonian island of Saaremaa. The reserve was founded in 1993. Now its total area is 10689 ha 940 ha of water area. However, this huge National Park of Vilsandi was not right. In 1906 Artur Toom, caretaker Islandskogo lighthouse undertook to protect birds on 6 Islands. And in 1910 the island of Vilsandi and Vaika received the status of 1910 status bird sanctuaries.
