The beautiful island of Zakynthos is considered one of the most beautiful Islands of Greece. Every year thousands of tourists from all over the world come to this island to enjoy its magnificent natural landscapes, fantastic scenery and crystal clear waters of the Ionian sea.

On the North coast of Zakynthos, in the area of Cape Skinari about 35 km from the homonymous capital of the island are the famous Blue caves – one of the most famous and impressive natural sights in Greece. The cave is partially flooded with water and can be visited only by sea.

Blue caves were discovered in 1897 and received its name because of the stunning azure water. Through the arch bizarre shapes carved into the white cliffs by nature, you will find yourself in the incredible beauty of the cave. The sun's rays, penetrating here, are refracted on rich in calcium and minerals water and combined with white rocks create a stunning effect. The depths here average about 4 m, and the water is so transparent that one can see every pebble on the bottom. The blue caves are very popular among divers.

The nearest port from where you will be able to go on a trip to this amazing place is Agios Nikolaos, located on the Northwest coast of the island. But, of course, to organize an excursion to the Blue caves can actually from any port of Zakynthos. You can also rent a boat and go to the caves on their own. But in this case we consider that the visit to the Blue caves (especially swimming) in poor weather conditions it is strongly not recommended.
