Morro de Arica is a rocky headland with a height of 130 meters, the top of which offers panoramic views of the harbour and the town of Arica, Northern Chile. Cape Morro is a symbol of the city, it can be seen on all tourist postcards. At Morro de Arica is a large area with several monuments. They are reminiscent of the Pacific war and the battle for the capture of the heights of the Chilean troops on 7 June 1880. This bust of Colonel Pedro Lagos, a monument to the Unknown soldier and the monument to Christ, the Cristo de La Concordia, which recalls the Union of the three bordering countries - Peru, Bolivia and Chile.

The Treaty of peace and harmony between warring countries in the war (1879-1883) in the Pacific was signed on 20 October 1883. On top of Morro was installed Cristo de La Concordia is a symbol of peace between Chile and Peru. This 11-foot bronze sculpture of Jesus Christ weighing 15 tons, the work of Chilean artist Raul Valdivieso, was made in Madrid in 1987. But in 1999, the statue of Christ was set at Morro de Arica with views of the Pacific ocean. His right hand points to Peru, left for Chile. At its base under the coat of arms of Chile and Peru engraved with the words: "Love one another as I have loved you".

Geographically this Cape is part of a chain mountain range Cordillera de La Costa and the Andes. In the ancient fortifications of the old fortress is a Museum of History and weapons. The exhibition includes samples of military uniforms, weapons, ammunition, books, magazines, photographs and various objects used by the Peruvian and Chilean armies of the time.

To get to the Museum in two ways: either by car from the street Sotomayor, or Hiking along the path at the end of water Street. And when you stop in front of a large rock promontory, lift up your head and try to explain to myself how brave Chilean soldiers were able to liberate from invaders this almost impregnable fortress in just 55 minutes, because the slope is almost vertical.
