A memorial to the homosexual victims of Nazism Photo: a memorial to the homosexual victims of Nazism

A memorial to the homosexual victims of Nazism, located in Berlin, is a rectangular parallelepiped made of concrete, which is slightly tilted. As a developer of this project were made by the artist Michael Elmgrin. The idea of the Creator was embodied in the monument to a height of 3, 6 m, where on the face is the window through which everyone can see a short film about two men kissing. This artistic painting was created through the efforts of the Director Thomas Vinterberg and cameraman Robby müller.

The memorial to the homosexuals who have been subjected to harassment and violence during the prosperity of Nazism in Germany, was opened to the public in 2008. It is worth noting that such a monument is the third in Germany, after such as the Frankfurt angel and the Pink triangle.

A memorial to the homosexual victims of Nazism is located in the Tiergarten Park in Berlin. After the Second world war, homosexuals were not recognized as victims of Nazism, they were still subjected to violence and persecution for several decades. Only in 1985 with the advent to power in Germany Richard von Weizsacker began the phase of establishment of justice, when the President openly called homosexuals as victims groups.

Near the memorial is a special plate where the text was written not only in German but also in English. After reading it, each visitor to the monument will be able to learn the history of persecution of homosexuals not only in the period of Nazi Germany, but after the fall of the Third Reich. Each of the victims of that time has been convicted under paragraph 175, prescribed in the penal code of the country until 1994.
