Museum of the history of pensions in the city of Birobidzhan is the only Museum of its kind not only in Russia, but all over the world. The Museum is housed in the building of branch of the Pension Fund of Russia in the Jewish Autonomous region on the street Sholem Aleichem. The initiators of the Museum were made by a group of activists of the Pension Fund under the leadership of Alexander Bobrov. The idea of founding the Museum came to him during the preparation to the destruction of archives that have expired shelf life.
The Grand opening of the Museum took place in April 2008, the Museum of the history of pensions on the history of the origin and development of the pension business in the country. The Museum exposition covers almost 300-year period of Russian history since the time of Peter the Great. He was the first who introduced pensions for naval officials, became de facto founder of the pension system in Russia. According to Naval regulations, the pension was meant for the sailors who received disability during service or in battle and the families of those who died for the Fatherland.
In the Birobidzhan Museum of pension exhibited rare archival documents relating to the calculation and payment of state pensions at different times. The collection is updated with various things and documents donated to the Museum by visitors.
The most precious of the Museum's exhibit is the pension book of a soldier, St. George's award A. Kuracheva, who lived in the Amur territory. Among the unique exhibits worth noting pension book of soldiers ' widows of the Second world war, decorated on a simple paper. All historical documents are presented to the Museum in the entourage of objects corresponding period - a kerosene lamp, banknotes, military ammunition, newspaper clippings and photographs.
