Museum of folk and applied arts in Troyan is a place where today houses the rich heritage of the city, the fruits of the talented Trojan artists – potters, blacksmiths, weavers, seamstresses, etc.

The Museum is located in a building that was destroyed during the Russo-Turkish war and the first rebuilt after the Liberation. The building was erected in 1881, earlier it was used for the needs of the school, then the municipality and the court. In 1968 there was opened a Museum of folk and applied art. In ten halls collected samples of the most characteristic of the Trojan district of crafts – pottery, woodcarving, blacksmithing, weaving, sewing and embroidery etc. On the exhibition can be seen as the products themselves, and the tools and devices with which they were made. Visitors can explore accurately recreated interiors craft workshops.

In three halls of the Museum are presented in chronological order the development of pottery in the region from the prehistoric era to the present. Visitors have the opportunity to meet with the first steps of the school in Troyan ceramics, history of the formation of this educational institution.

The exhibition dedicated to woodworking trades, you can see a variety of tools – axes, drills, planers and more. The crown of the exposition are the artistic designs of the Church of the thread. Here are copies of the elements of the iconostasis of the monastery and the Church of St. Nicholas in the village Pomoshnik.

Metal craft Trojan – forging, foundry, production of copper and gold is also represented in a separate room. Among the exhibits – metal household items and agricultural tools. In the Renaissance period, the city became the center of manufacturing of copper products. In the Museum there are objects forged by representatives of the famous family of coppersmiths – Tatevik.

Samples of traditional weaving amaze with their beauty, elegance. Patterned carpets, fabrics, traditional costumes, leather and fur products, made by hand, is a vivid example of a Trojan needle.
