Mount Musala is the highest point on the map not only of Bulgaria and the Balkan Peninsula, but also in Eastern Europe in General. Above sea level Musala rises to the height of nearly three thousand meters – 2925. The addition of the mountain – Paleozoic granites, slotted genitorture cores. The terrain is mountainous-glacial.

The name of the mountain is connected with the Turkish period, Bulgaria and literally "ICC Allah" can be translated as "prayer summit" or "nearness to Allah". However, in the period from 1949 to 1962, the mountain was named in honor of Joseph Stalin – Stalin peak.

Is Musala in the National Park Rila, which is famous for rare species of plants (for example, grow here Bulgarian spruce and Macedonian pine). At the foot of the mountains the rivers Iskar, Places, and Maritza. The distance from Sofia is about 80 kilometers.

In addition, the river valley has a ski resort Borovets. For tourists there are 18 tracks with a total length of 40 kilometers. Each of the tracks, regardless of the complexity, equipped with modern cable cars and lifts, capacity of which is not less than 10 thousand passengers every hour.

Hiking route to the top of Borovets will take about 7 hours, will have to overcome 10 miles – this path is considered the best for beginners. On the mount is also equipped with a "cabin lift", which is a lift cabin. With it, tourists can have access to special databases, which are located at altitudes in meters and in 1790 2362 meters.

On the top of the mountain is a meteorological station of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences.
