Stanpit Marsh nature reserve near the seaside resort of Bournemouth. This unique place combines salt marsh, freshwater marsh, reed beds, areas of sandy and pebbly beaches.
On 65 acres of the refuge is home to over 300 species of plants, 14 of which are rare and threatened. In addition, it is home to 312 species of birds. Some nest in these wetlands, but the majority are migratory, whose Stanpit-Marsh is a wonderful place of rest and search for food during migration. Through the swamp is the canal called "ditch Moms Stiller" - in honor of Hannah Steller, who lived in the eighteenth century, the owner of the local pub. The channel approached the back door of the pub, and was actively used by local smugglers. Across the ditch is spanned collapsible bridge (Bailey bridge), one of the few left from the Second World war.
