The Dominican Church of Viborg in the middle ages was part of the Dominican monastery. Presumably, the parish Church of Viborg was built in 1227 money on noble Wyborcza Gunnar. The first mention of the Church dates back to the year 1246. The parish Church was completely built by the end of the 13th century, made of red brick in the Gothic style. The bell tower of the Church hang three bells: the two of them were established in 1729, third, later, added in 1929.

The Church was located to the North of the monastery, that is, closer to the city. Women in the Church were not allowed, however, during the religious holidays in the service could attend and they. The monastery was surrounded by four walls, built a rectangle around a courtyard. In one of the parts of the monastery were shared bedroom, a modern analogue of the dormitories and cells.

There was a room for meetings and reception of important guests. The refectory was used as a communal dining hall, she was connected with a bakery, brewery and warehouses. The monastery was surrounded by a wall and entrances were so narrow that no one could enter an open courtyard on horseback.

In 1552 on the territory of the monastery there was a fire, the building was damaged, but the Church continued to worship. During the reformation, the monastery ceased to exist, the monks were expelled, and the Church became a parish.
